In 2006, under the correct leadership of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Hangzhou Municipal Government with the guidance of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of “Three Represents”, the viewpoint of scientific development was implemented in an all-round way. According to the general requirement of “Development, Innovation, Economic, Stabilization , People-oriented and harmony” and tightly encircling the goals and assignments of the 11th Five-Year Plan, the people of Hangzhou carried out “5 Strategies” in a deep-going way, exerted to solve “7 Difficulties”, led “harmonious business", founded “Safe Hangzhou” and accelerated the construction of a socialist harmonious society. The well and fast growing momentum continued in the city’s economic and society as well as the fine start of the 11th Five-Year Plan was realized.
　　According to the preliminary statistics, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Hangzhou was 344.099 billion yuan，up by 14.3 percent over the previous year at comparable price, which had maintained an annual economic growth rate of over 10 percent for consecutive 16 years. Of the total, the value-added of the primary industry was 15.492 billion yuan; that of the secondary industry was 174.198 billion yuan; and that of the tertiary industry was 154.408 billion yuan, up by 3.9 percent, 13.3 percent and 16.7 percent respectively. The proportion of the three Industries was adjusted from 5.0 percent, 50.9 percent and 44.1 percent of the previous year into 4.5 percent, 50.6 percent and 44.9 percent respectively. The GDP per capita calculated by the people through household register was 51,871 yuan, up by 13 percent. According to the average exchange rate published by the Government in 2006, the GDP per captia calculated by the people through household register reached 6,505 US dollar.
